Hints on Child Training

So I’ve been working my way through my 2008 reading list and just started Hints on Child Training by H. Clay Trumbull. (update - I’ve finished Happiest Baby on the Block and actually read two other parenting/baby books not listed since. I’m due with Brooke any day, I thought it best to fit those in first!)

Back to Hints on Child Training

I’m lovin’ it and highly recommend it to any parent that is open to learning how to be a better parent and not one who thinks they already know it all or even a lot of it all – LOL.

The short and to the point chapters are really great for my schedule right now and allow me to ponder and reflect on a “hint” without getting bogged down in heavy chapters or forgetting what I read at the beginning of a sitting.

The book has been in circulation for over 100 years and the humility and knowledge with which Trumbull writes is still applicable today.

My sister lived by the Happiest Baby on the Block- it worked so well for her little girl that would not settle long enough to sleep!

The swaddling really works for a lot of babies - my first loved to be swaddled. I also read a book called 12 hours in 12 weeks - very informative. I think between the two (they are slightly different in their approach to babies) I have an idea of what our family is going to try.
